Some weeks, the spotlight feels different.

As we pulled this edition together, we found ourselves sitting with something deeper than career milestones or leadership insights. We were reminded that behind every title is a whole human life — tender, complicated, courageous.

One of the women we’re featuring this week shared a story about choosing joy in the midst of tragedy, uncertainty, fear, sadness. About redefining identity. About honoring the season you’re in — even when it isn’t the one you planned.

It made us pause. It made us reflect. It made us grateful for this movement that celebrates women who lead boldly not just in boardrooms, but in life.

Let’s show up for the women in our lives in every chapter — especially the brave women writing those chapters in real time. 💜

“If you haven’t had moments of work joy in your career, find some. Switch companies. Find the right people. Find work you love.”

- Julie Hogan

Joy is still allowed. Julie is a former tech executive turned writer whose work explores love, family, and nature with emotional clarity and warmth. After a stage 4 cancer diagnosis at 40, she stepped away from her career to lean fully into what matters most — her family and her writing — calling it her “accelerated second chapter.” When she couldn’t find a children’s book that made space for both grief and laughter, she wrote one — reminding us that even in life’s hardest seasons, joy is still allowed.

Quiet by nature. Bold by choice. Shamane is Chief Growth Officer at Sekuro, a cybersecurity thought leader, TEDx speaker, and bestselling author who has built transcontinental communities connecting CISOs and board leaders across seven cities. Though often seen on big stages, she’s naturally introverted — her confidence was built, not born, forged by repeatedly choosing to show up when it felt uncomfortable. Her work challenges high-potential leaders to outgrow imposter syndrome, find their voice, and stand tall — even in cultures that subtly teach them not to.

Others first, always. Grace is the Chief Operations Officer at Seventh Wave Refreshments, bringing experience from KPMG to restaurant powerhouses like Chick-fil-A and Crumbl Cookies. She believes no one accomplishes anything great alone — and champions a simple but powerful leadership mindset: put others’ needs first, always. For Grace, growth — whether personal or organizational — begins with service.

💜 That One Thing: The Support Leaders Deserve

The strongest leaders aren’t the busiest — they’re the ones with a powerful support team.

This week, we’re hosting a candid fireside chat with our partners at Base on what executive support really unlocks: clearer thinking, sharper priorities, and the kind of leadership that doesn’t run on fumes. We’ll unpack the myths around Executive Assistants, the mindset shifts that change everything, and how delegation can become your unfair advantage.

If you’ve ever thought, “I should be able to handle this myself,” this conversation is for you.

(And yes — Wednesday Women works with a Base assistant we absolutely adore. Game changer.)
